Optical illusion. The quilt is perfectly flat.
My challenge was to create a quilt where the batting (the inside) is the artistic focus. I built an 8X8 foot plywood frame, then used 15 boxes of RIT dye and 100 pounds of ice to ice-dye the batting. It is topped with a sheer fabric and is intended to evoke a sunset viewed through a window
